Sarah A. Hoyt's (Darkship series, Shifter series, and more) "Wait Until the War Is Over" is an amazing short story! I love the story within the story, and how the second ties in with the first. I also love the parallels to the decisions we make. I highly recommend this short story )
I read Darkship Renegades because it was a contender for the 2013 Prometheus Award. The description says that it was the winner already, but I don't think that has been determined yet.
The novel is excellent. It contains very interesting premonitions about how the future could be with humanity playing with DNA. I will definitely read the first Darkship novel now that I have finished the second one.
Besides being interesting, the story is also satisfying on an emotional level. There are interactions in the twisted future society which are realistic (I think) and alert us for a future society much different from what we have now...

The plot is intriguing, the characters are likable and lifelike, and the pacing's just right. But what got this one five stars from me is the author's writing style. Every so often, I encountered a turn of phrase that hit the imagery bullseye so pefectly I couldn't help being both admiring and jealous. Fine writing and entertaining reading.
Interesting concept. I could identify with t he main character. Well written. Kept me interested right up to the end.

Minor romance with a sci fi hallucination thrown in featuring a short battle with boring action sequence. Very short though so easy to read on a lunch break.
